I've read the Unbearable Lightness of Being and couldn't stand it, I'm afraid...
I didn't really empathise with any of the characters, and some of them I really absolutely couldn't stand. Fair enough that this was probably intentional, but I didn't find anything else to hook me in, and I didn't come away from it feeling I'd learnt any lessons, or discovered anything new.
I will give him points for being able to get me so utterly worked up and angry in places - it takes skill to manipulate your readers that much - but I feel manipulation should serve a purpose, and I didn't really feel that his did. For me, at any rate.
May I ask what you liked about it?
